This article in the Guardian Online set me thinking Inside the Ivory Tower .

Some reasons here on ‘why we blog’ - I like the idea of developing ‘prose style’, ‘developing ideas’ (most of mine are scattered on pieces of paper throughout the house and garage - periodically I ‘tidy up’ and discover all sorts of half written treatise) and an online diary.

Its the mobility of blogging which is useful - being able to write things down when out and about as it were.

So - in terms of diary - this week I went to (have to look up in paper diary as I honestly can’t remember) - a Knowledge Management conference at which I was a stand in speaker - third in the queue which I suppose qualifies as dead man’s shoes.

For anyone paying close attention, it can be noted that the funeral black of version 0.1 of this blog has been replaced by this rather trendy pastel blue-grey. Thanks to Charles for this.

Also spent a morning with a large local authority and one of their suppliers to start to plan of action to introduce CRM into the authority.

This went pretty well - the only downers being i)I stayed in the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. This morning I got an email message with an online form from said hotel chain asking for my comments. At the foot it says ‘your comments may be added to our website’. I wonder.

And ii) the train I wanted to catch to meeting was cancelled due to ‘mechanical failure’ so ended up going cross country in one of those single carriage affairs which are quite correctly called ‘bone shakers’. Perhaps it was the same train; the next day coming back we were all decanted at Doncaster as the train had ‘mechanical failure’ so ended up being home much later than expected.

I am turning into the Victor Meldrew of local government. What was that opening remark about ‘prose style’? Charles, how do I edited this d*mn thing??
