Our local council have responded to my FOI request. The gist of this is that a road near us has been partially closed while ‘developers’ build a block of flats. This has led to traffic build up and more traffic in surrounding roads (the road that has been partially closed is quite clearly the main road – there are very few houses on this road – apart from the new flats being built). The other streets are very residential.

My question is – how long will this partial closure continue, and can we be guaranteed that when the flats are finished, that the road will become two way again?

I have been sent some maps and some correspondence between the developers and the council – including a good letter from the planning department pointing out to the developers that they should have thought about the roads issue before they started work.

Interesting as all of this is – it doesn’t actually the answer the fairly simple question I’ve asked.

And why use FOI? I had made three previous enquiries to our council about this before January 2005, none of which they had replied to.
