Haven’t we heard that somewhere before? I am still going through the labyrinth bureaucracy of trying to understand the tax system. Including, ‘what is the POINT of VAT???’

1. Most of the forms are incomprehensible to me - perhaps a bit of user testing would be helpful?

2. There is no category of ‘co-habiting’ on one of the main forms. Isn’t that a bit retro?

3. I have just signed up for online self assessment. Within 10 seconds I received an email from the government gateway saying that my PIN will be sent by post and should reach me in seven days. What is that about? er, why can’t it be sent electronically and securely?

4. I hope everyone this year starts talking about e-services rather than e-government.
