The last post was rather timely as this morning I discovered the election has been called - this is what happens when the tv, radio and internet are switched off at 6pm…
I was having a quite evening reading Geert Lovink’s book Uncanny Networks . Some smart thought provoking stuff (stuff?) in here.
Made me think that too much of e-government is stuffy, rigid and driven from the top, when all along the internet continues to be exciting, innovative and generating new ways of organising and participating. And that the interent should still be seen as being embryonic rather than mature; and as it matures, its capability to create alternative (electronic) discourse and dialogue is going to impact more upon both ‘government’ and ‘democracy’. But probably not on this election.
The last US election was much more web based than any previous - it will be interesting to see what happens in the UK in the next few weeks.
