Our (district) council Planning Department approved the development of a block of flats, the (County) council have agreed to the partial and now the complete closure of a road. All of the traffic is now diverted down a residential street which is quite narrow at one end. Most of the traffic is using the street as a race track where it can, or is getting stuck in jams when it meets traffic coming the other way.

Can I get ANY SENSE out of anyone as to what is going on???? It would be easier to teach a house plant to talk in Latin.

Here are the things that perhaps need highlighting:

- there has been no attempt by either council to deal with the issue of traffic speed - none, whatsoever

- no-one in either council will take responsibility for the decisons which have been made - I literally have been told on three occassions now ‘it ain’t my job guv’ - or the equivalent

- none of the local councillors have made any attempt to respond to a short email on the issue

- the www.councillor.gov.uk website has a big flaw in that unless you remember to make a copy of the email, you ain’t got a copy. And neither do I have any indication that the emails actually arrived.

The underlying feeling I get unfortunately is that to raise anything to do with traffic, traffic speed or developers is to bring down a bureaucratic curtain of indifference and that if the council stalls long enough then the citizen will give up.

Perhaps if I report seeing someone wearing a hoodie in the road some action might be taken??
