having used the laptop far too much I’ve developed bad pains in both my hands - particularly thumbs - I think this is because the keys on the laptop are too close together and I’ve been holding my thumbs up when I type to avoid accidently hitting the touch area. This is really quite painful. When I raised it in passing at a meeting yesterday, it opened up a whole outpouring of those present of their particular keyboard related pains. It raises at least three questions:
1. What are the long term health effects of the use of hardware ?
2. Why does it seem so difficult to get hold of good keyboards ?
3. How could laptops be re-designed to prevent this?
