Local government employs 2.1 million in the UK . Now say half of them have access to a PC - that’s just over one million people. Lets say a cool million.

Now lets say they spend 5 minutes a day dealing with spam = 1m x 5 minutes = 5 million minutes a day.
That’s 83,333 hours. Now lets say they spend an average of 200 days a year at work. Thats 83,333 x 200 = 16,666,600 hours a year. If that’s divided by 8 hours (the average working day) it produces a figure of 2,083,325.

That’s over 2 million days a year of lost time because of spam. Lets say the average hourly wage of a local government employee is £25.00.

That equals £50,000,000 a year of extra costs because of spam.

Just a thought.
