Efficiencies is rapidly becoming my favourite category.

Today’s FT has an article about new arrangements for the aircraft that ferry the Queen and Tony Blair around (not at the same time, I hasten to add). There has been a review by none other than Sir Peter Gershon himself. And the winner is…?

” Downing Street said that the decision, the details of which will be sent out next week, would cost an extra £1.2 million a year after taking account of the savings generated… The aircraft are expected to cost £12.3 million a year, £2.7 million more than is spent on current arrangements. Downing Street declined to explain how the savings would be made”.

I am speechless…or whatever the blog equivalent is.
