choice and coercion
Why is that the government is pushing for the so called ‘choice’ agenda in some areas but not others? So allegedly we can have a choice of hospital (although why do we need or want this?). But no choice about ID cards?
I think there’s a campaign somewhere around education with the slogan something like ‘every school a good school’. Surely quality is a better ambition than choice? We all know the so called choice agenda enables the better off to get the most out of the system.
It would make much more sense for everyone to send their children to the nearest school - reduce pollution (oh, and please lets ban the use of SUVs to take children to school ) and help build communities. But does anyone believe anything that Tony Blair says anymore?
