Transport for London obviuosly spend a lot of time studying their CCTV to find out when I’m in London. Last night it took me over two and a half hours to travel from South Kensington to South London. The icing on the cake was the DLR train which took an hour to get from Heron’s Quay to Island Gardens, where after sitting being told ‘we will be moving shortly’ for 30 minutes we were all finally chucked off the train about midnight and told to walk through the Greenwich foot tunnel and ‘catch a bus’ to Lewisham.

This apparantley a combination of - power failure at Shadwell; serious incident (unspecified) at Canning Town; signal failure at Mudchute? Greenwich? who knows, except that pesky signal just wouldn’t work. This morning the cause was claimed to be a points failure. It makes one wonder excatly what the problem was, whether it’s all made up or whether the whole system is so useless that it simply doesn’t ever work properly. By why such a combination of events?

Today I’ve spent an hour try to get wi-fi access and of course at the same time my mobile phone has stopped working. I’m cut from communication! Luckily I found a call box….but again, why the multiple technical failures?
