chased by a bull?
Was somewhat alarmed during our evening walk to discover that the field we were crossing not only had cows and calves in it, but the biggest (honest guv) bull I’ve ever seen. I would suggest that bulls shouldn’t really be in fields with public access, but at the time we were thinking more about how to move from the middle of the field, to the edge of the field and then out. There was the added complication of one particular calf that kept charging at us.
The calf was relatively easy to deal with as it wasn’t that big and daft rather than threatening. Having spend some of my teenage years working on a farm, flapping arms usually works. I was trying not to flap the arms too much though, so as not to get the interest of the bull. It kept looking at us as we retreated but didn’t move.
Having got home in one piece, it seemed worth checking the internet to find some tips as to what to do when confronted by a bull - or worse, being charged by one. But can’t find anything sensible. This doesn’t prove anything about the countryside or the internet, but you might have thought DeFRA or the Environment Agency would have put something advice up?
