I think this postie deserves support for telling people how to stop getting junk mail .

Junk mail; spam; unsolicited telephone calls. I’ve lost count of the elderly people I know who get frightened and anxious by the endless phone calls from people trying to sell them things they don’t want. My email system is grinding to a halt with out of control spam. Junk mail comes in the letter box and straight in the bin.

Here we have production organised so that if you’re a criminal, or a cyncial salesperson, or a company with enough money to buy time and space in the mail system you can get what you want.

Meanwhile, I note the tatty books, or lack of books, loads of school kids seem to have to put up with; the desperate shortage of paper and printing machinery in parts of the world.

Must put down as new year resolutions:

- campaign to re-organise world production around need not greed
- campaign for privacy on the network infrastructure
- a right to not be bombarded by advertising
