In an effort to try and reduce the amount of paper I carry around, I’ve been experimenting with my cheap-o (but effective) hundred quid printer. What do I find out? That it will print double sided booklet form. This massively reduces the amount of paper and ink needed to print a document.

Now if a technophobe like me has made this amazing discovery, why isn’t it mandated as a standard across central and local government? In my small experiment I’ve reduced a 16 page document to four pages. This is a tremendous *efficiency* saving of 75%.

I’ve no idea what the annual paper and print bill is in the public sector, but I would have thought this sort of saving could be used to wipe out the deficit in the NHS.
