The word ‘efficiencies’ gets used, over-used, mis-used all the time. The NHS faces a crisis because of a £512 million deficit. But it’s not because there’s a shortage of cash. Maybe the NHS could turn to VAT fraud to fund itself? It just might work. Today we learn that there was a VAT fraud involving between £1.9 - 8 billion pounds. Five times more than any other EU country.

When and how is this inefficiency going to be dealt with? We’ll need an uber-Gershwin to sort this out.

I’m waiting, really waiting to see which government department or senior minister is going to get the chop for this. I expect it’s going to be a long wait.
