It’s interesting how a company can have such a consistently irritating interface. Think only of Sky . The magazine is dire, the programmes are dire, the website is dire.

For example, try finding out how to book a pay-per-view football match on Sky Sports website. Well, I couldn’t. I think I would rather listen on the radio or pay an extra tenner to go and see a match live. The going rate is eight pounds per match, plus a one pound booking fee, plus the cost of an 0870 number.

The sad fact is that there was supposed to be ‘competition’ relating to satellite television. This didn’t last long and we have had a Murdoch monopoly for longer than most of will care to remember.

Maybe it’s this monopolisation which creates poor interfaces; poor design; poor usability. Not only does it create a poor product, it also stifles creativity.
