Spent all of yesterday doing training with a small group of people to move their case work from paper to an electronic system. This produced the usual and expected issues; people are concerned about the time it will take to learn the new system, the time to load their existing work into the system, how they will find time to load their previous cases in. All this is understandable and time and patience are needed to assuage these fears.

One unexpected area of confusion was around what on the surface should be the use of the term ‘review’. The team being trained had a very different interpretation of ‘review’ to the Performance Monitoring team. This in turn is different to the way ‘review’ relates to the terms ‘activity’ and ‘events’ in the new system.

This is of quite fundamental importance in moving this forward. If there is any ambiguity in this, the system will be used in quite different ways by different people.
