My teenage son was stopped by the police a few days ago while out with a group of friends. We then received the letter below.

Yes, I know this is an opportunity to rail at the oppressive nature of the bourgeois state - but this is a blog about digital environments, egovernment and internet-ee type things. So I’ll stay in scope and approach this outrage from the perspective of information managment.

What’s wrong with this letter?

There’s no date of when it was sent.
There’s no phone number.
There are two web addresses - which is relevant?
There is no email address.
They’ve got the lads name wrong - is anyone out there called ‘Janes’??

The stop by the police could have been any one of three options but we’re not told which:

- investigate suspected crime
- disorder
- anti-social behaviour
