I’ve just put a deposit on a gite for a cycling holiday in France. I have now got data held under the French Data Protection Act. The line at the foot of the confirmation reads:

‘In accordance with the French Data Protection Act (Act no. 78-17, dated 6th January 1978), you have a legal right of access to information held about you and the right to ask that it be rectified’.

Now that seems fairly clear. Handy to have the reference to the Act itself (year and number).
