I’ve been listening to Edwin Fischer playing Bach’s ‘The Well Tempered Clavier’. By this I mean listening to it over and over again. An image came to me of Bach in the early 18th century, with his hand woven clothes, and hand made piano, in a stage of pre-industrialisation; writing, composing and playing by candle light.

It made me feel that we live in the future.
