Finally home after a trip to Leeds, London and two visits to the Royal Opera House to see Das Rheingold and Die Walkure (both fantastic).

But dear oh dear; what’s happened to the information superhighway? Trying to get wi-fi access this week has been one big hassle. It’s too intermittent and unreliable.

Wi-fi has returned to the British Library after a few weeks abscence. But it’s now delivered by a different company (it used to be The Cloud - and they would provide access to BT Openzone customers, of which I’m one). Now you have to pay.

This along with the pointless and officious bag searching and the inedible food is making the library more and more of a pain to visit. It’s the real legacy of Thatcherism; paying for everything.
