size and power
Container ships are now enormously bigger than ever – the largest is the Emma Maersk and carries 11,000 TEUs (Twenty Foot Equivalent Units). Phew. Container ships in the 1950s carried about 250 TEUs. Now despite the huge growth in size, the ship itself is much faster than its predecessors. The darn things have gotten bigger *and* faster.
Now data sticks have got smaller and more powerful. I now have one the size of a small boiled sweet that holds 2GB of data. The only problem is that it’s too small and I can never find it. So now it’s on the end of a very long piece of string.
Am I going backwards or forwards?
