Hey, I thought there was a war on terrorism? One in which we all have to buy (yes, purchase out of our own hard earned cash) identity cards. That requires 24 hour survellience. That means people can be detained for days and days, and worse, the government can turn a blind eye to rendition flights where people are picked up in the streets, flown to dodgy countries with few human rights and be tortured.
