the mystery of the mouse
Time for a new laptop me thinks; the current one (which I am writing this on) has been dropped, fallen off a table on the train, been in my rucksack and accidently swung into more lamp posts and street signs than I care to think of. It’s a shame as I have become very attached to it’s resilience. Not for me the ever greedy bloated software or need for speed and massive storage capacity. After all apart from emails, surf the web and write things, what do I do with it?
What is annoying at the moment is that from start up, the cursor wobbles a bit in the centre of the screen; then drifts slowly to the top right hand corner of the screen; then races up into that corner.
This evening I discovered that if the laptop is given a reasonable shake, the cursor slowly falls to the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This doesn’t seem very scientific or reliable.
But the other thing I’ve discovered is how much can be done *without* the mouse. I’ve managed to get thus far by working out how to move around the screen and applications just using the keyboard keys. There may be more resilience in this yet.
