remote working
Have had the most rotten head cold since Sunday. By this I mean a constant pounding head ache and …well there’s no need to describe the constant sneezing and general un-wellness.
But this raises a really big issue about the growth of remote and mobile working. There is no way I would want to leave the house and engage with public transport - overheated, overcrowded and overpriced; waiting in the cold, getting on boiling hot trains with far too many people, getting wet in the storms and then repeating it all again to get home.
But I have managed 3 - 4 hours work a day, albiet with a very long sleep this afternoon. So to everyone I’m working with, it looks like I’m available for work and it’s business as usual. But behind the scenes…ah, well, it’s an act of duty that keeps me going.
And it’s not that easy to manage this. Tomorrow I have a meeting that I really don’t feel up to going to, but I could bash out a few emails.
The technology has taken control of us. Even while sick, we’re working. It’s a constant pressure to increase productivity.
