I must admit I don’t like the term ‘ taxonomy’ to describe classification of content (for example of a website). Taxonomy to me always suggests the natural world Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. As GK Chesterton says in a different context, the ‘unconscious chaos of nature’. 

I prefer the term ‘classification’ as a term to be used for organising particular types of information - for example, the history of an area.
