I *always* do a *daily* back up. Sometimes it doesn’t involve much more than emailing the 2 - 3 documents I’ve been working on to an email account (where the email stays on the server). As a minimum, it’s quite a good system because all documents are saved and they can be accessed from anywhere via the web. 

EXCEPT YESTERDAY.

When for some stoopid reason I forgot to back up a huge file of changes I’ve been working on. And today for the first time ever, KDE seems to have disappeared. Amazing how the two events have occurred at the same time.
