With all the recent furore about the content of the BBC, there’s likely to be more focus on other parts of the corporation as well. And for all the millions spent on it, it would be good to have some scrutiny of the BBC’s website.

Take this page - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/jazz/

When I click on ‘Jazz Library’ - it tells me to install a Java update - whatever that might be

Click on Jazz line-up and it starts playing ok

Click on Jazz on 3 and that starts playing ok  as well

But click on Jazz Record Requests and it tells me to install RealPlayer. Are they joking? RealPlayer is up there in the top 3 all time software horrors - probably in second place behind Vista.

Why such inconsistency? If I can play two shows on the stuff that’s already on the laptop with no need to upgrade Java or install RealPlayer - then why not be able to play the other two?
